FIRST RESPONDER TRAINING
PITLOCHRY FIRST RESPONDERS
ASSISTS THE SCOTTISH AMBULANCE SERVICE
Volunteers Are Trained by the SAS To Attend Certain Types Of Emergency Calls In Their Local Area.
The Ambulance Control Centre (ACC) deploys the on-duty PCFR via radio and the Responders' aim is to reach a potential life-threatening local emergency in the first vital minutes, before the ambulance crew arrives
The role of the First Responder is to help stabilise the patient and provide the appropriate care until the more highly-skilled ambulance crew arrives on scene to take over the treatment
Responders are based in rural communities where ambulance crews have longer distances to travel to a patient
A Community First Responder May Attend The Following Types Of Emergencies:
Cardiac arrest
Heart attack
Stroke
Choking
Diabetic emergencies
Breathing difficulties
Patients suffering a seizure
Chest pains
Unconscious patients
SAS has set PCFR a clearly-defined region to serve in:
The polygon is from Pitlochry to close surrounding area limits, and includes Blair Atholl in the north and Balmacneil near Kindallachan in the south

You must be able to attend their 4 days' (2 weekends) training course
and have access to a reliable vehicle when on duty
Please speak to your local representative before submitting an application to SAS
